Cold Trails

Cold Trails

A Poem by Gray Witch
"

Glad I'm not living in Australia! (01.09.13)

"
Wintery wind blows
January snows.
Icicles drip
While sparrows flit
In bushes stark and woody.
Sun's rays are bright,
But lacking warmth,
Ground as hard as marble.
Breath freezes crisp
In glacial cold air,
Jack Frost works his wonders.
But soon enough
Buds will appear
Heralding,
Hailing,
Vociferously,
Naming.
A new beginning,
Springing forth
Rebirth,
Rejoice,
Resound.

Yes, I too long for spring! The joy of hybernation doesn't seem to last as long as winter does. But as we awaken from our slumber is it not the most beautiful thing? Very well written both metaphorically and literally!

So that's where you've been .... hibernating...never considered that (g)
Well-chosen words from one who would know. (Ye dweller of the great white north) I'm always happy to see a new season arive. Very nice poem.

Thank you - so am I, however it is always tainted by the thought of ....ummmm.... 'bees'(vBg)....LOL
This has a calm and hopeful feel to it- the emptiness giving way to light. I love the way it picks up pace with the one word lines for Spring time. A fabulous poem.

Begins with spine chilling cold and ends with great expectations of the warmth of Spring. Nice. I love the word - vociferously. I've never used it in a poem. I can hear the sounds of Spring by just saying the word.

I love it. I'm going to print it onto a bookmark: if that's all right with you. I'll sketch a Chick a dee in colored pencil on the top and a daffodil bud at the bottom. I'll use blue ink too. Nice touch.

I hope you are considering publishing because you have an audience.

Thanks for sharing this poem. Great job as usual.
