"

A very short story about two friends (of the opposite sex) who like each other.

"

She feel asleep in his arms. Warm and protected with her ear against his chest. It was unusual for her to do such a thing. They weren't that close, but they wanted to be. However, they were unaware of each others feelings because they were both afraid. Afraid of rejection. Afraid that the person they've fallen for might just tell them no. Lonely paranoia growing every second with every heart beat.

He wants to pet her head, gently. Run his fingers through her hair, and slowly twist the ends with his fingers. She was warm, and smelt good. It drove him nuts. He wanted to steal a kiss, but wasn't brave enough. In his opinion, even though he wanted to steal it he couldn't. You don't kiss a friend. Then again you don't fantasize about a friend either, but the desire couldn't be helped.

In her dreams she thought of him dressed in a suit and tie with happiness shining in his eyes. Dancing in a field of green; smothered in blooming flowers. He grabbed her and pulled her close. Kissed her, and told her he loved her with all his heart. A stereotypical dream that any love struck fool would have, but it made her glad. What felt like fifteen minutes in her head was actually seven hours in reality.

When she awoke the sun was shining in her eyes, and the thumping of his heart was echoing in her ear. She was surprised and embarrassed, but didn't jump off him. She couldn't, her body wouldn't let her. Instead she ran her finger over his face, outlining his facial features with her index finger. Her index finger brushed his lips, and she stopped. Easing her face forward she stared at his lips. They were a little chapped, but still soft.

She wanted to kiss him, it was a thought that kept repeating itself over and over again in her head. A quick kiss seemed nice to her, but she didn't want a quick peck. They weren't teenagers. She wanted one with a little passion. Closed was fine, open mouthed would be a little too much. Before she knew it she kissed him. Not once, not twice, but three times.

He still didn't wake up, after three kiss that were harder and longer than the last. She wanted one more so she took it, her desire got the best of her. When she started to break the kiss he woke up. His eyes opened and his right eyebrow raised. Her eyes grew with stupidity and fear. Slowly she rolled off of him, and backed away. There eyes never left each other.

He was shocked and she was embarrassed...

This is a very interesting read. I want to read further to see if these two awkward lovers ever get past their secret crushes on one another and take the plunge into coupledom. Please submit more. I'm anxious to know where this story is going. There is a typo in the first line. It should be "She fell asleep in his arms." Keep writing!
