Hello Dexter

Hello Dexter

A Poem by Grant

Hello Dexter, my soul arrester,
Blessed strength and patience tester.
I am Dad, your guide and jester,
Your biggest fan and prime investor.
Now meet your mother, your greatest lover,
Your homey haven when you bawl and blubber.
A one like her you’ll find no other,
Your only and one true loving mother.
First in the world you beamed a scream,
Frightened, tight and cold you seemed,
Till upon that breast you warmly nestled,
And neither cried nor fought nor strained nor wrestled.
Days of weakness and sleepless nights,
Weeks of toil and taxing frights,
Tearful trials and things defiled,
Prepared us well for that first smile.
Months now in, and you now are,
What do you think of the world so far?
Bear you still that natal scar?
Witness you the lovely stars?
Years of tears and triumphs to go,
Years in height and might to grow.
Who will you love and how will you show?
Who will you be? God only knows.

I have seen my sons having gone well on their way, now it is my grandsons currently finishing off their higher education and as you indicate, who knows where opportunity and inclination will take them.
a fine write that mirrors what all (?) parents experience
