A Poem by debra
"

tale of mice

"
The dragons are coming again
We hear the thunderous rumble of their approach
terrible feet shake us, making the earth around our homes
quake and crumble
Our sky falls at their invasion
Great blasts from their trumpet voices
make us cringe
They bellow and we scramble for cover
in groves and grasses and dens
where we crouch, whimpering softly
They breath fire
and feeling the heat from their nostils
as they descend upon us ravenous
we scurry for refuge in the dark, deep recesses
of our dwellings in the earth
always fearful we may be consumed
They never enter
We are never harmed
Our numbers are not diminished by them
in their frequent travels through our villages
We only the know to be afraid
The elders tell us we are better to be scared
than sorry
