The Bells

The Bells

A Poem by Alexandra V.
"

These words were flowing into my head as if God Himself were urging me to write. So, write I will. This prose poem is about faith. God makes Himself heard at times some may not even realize...

"
Can you hear them?

They ring at the first sign of gold
Waking the world of kith and kin
At this hour, it needs not to be told
The marathon's about to begin

They ring in the dusk's precious lights
Consoling, soothing and humming
Can pulchritude be found in the darkest of nights?
It's not merely in what is coming

They ring as the horses race the wind
And the cat nods off on the fence
Their tune carries toward the old frog's grin
And conducts the hornets' graceful dance

They ring amid the roaring brine
As each wave embraces the shore
The albatross glides, its wings divine
Red skies meet eventide once more

They ring in the glowing of the grand New York
During nights spent not asleep
The shouting of men and the firing cork
The moments we'd all love to keep

They ring loudly in that very first smile
That brings tears to a mother's eyes
She'll never lose the sound for miles
And wishes not to even try

They ring in an elderly gentleman's last kiss
As upon Earth his love no longer dwells
But she lifts his sorrow and brings him bliss
For she will now forever be of the bells

Can you hear them?
