If Truth Be Told

(A true story)

My granddaughter’s baptism day had come,
So sweetly dressed was she;
A precious child with auburn curls
At the tender age of three.

To the front of the church she stepped so proud,
With her family at her side;
She turned and faced the people there,
Her big brown eyes so wide.

The pastor stooped and picked her up
And held her in his arms;
She smiled at those around her,
Displaying all her charms.

He dumped the water on her head
(Yes, 'dumped,' he overdid it);
With water dripping down her face
’Twas then she turned and said it.

She looked the pastor in the eye,
They’re nearly head to head,
Then right into his lapel mike,
This is what she said:

You need to brush your teeth more. Your breath stinks!!

I love children. They have no fear in telling the truth.
