Love's Melodies
You came to me in love's sweet spring,
So innocent was I;
You laid me down in clover sweet
Beneath a deep blue sky.
You spoke to me of things unknown,
Of pleasures old as sin;
You strummed me as a good guitar
'Til senses were a-spin.
So gently then, you drew me near,
You placed your lips on mine;
And oh! the pleasure of your taste,
'Twas of the sweetest wine.
And I partook 'til I was drunk,
Yet still I begged for more;
Your kisses set my heart afire
And opened up love's door.
And then you played arpeggios
Upon my body fair
Until each nerve was strung so tight
That I would gasp for air.
Love's melodies had lit a fire
That I could not control,
Consuming all that I once was,
My heart, my mind, my soul.
And then you took your instrument
And entered in love's door,
And played the grand finale there
Until I begged for more.
And when love's fires were finally spent,
All that therein remained
Were but the ashes of my youth
And the woman I became.
