My Savior Watches

My Savior Watches

A Poem by Linda Newman
"

He is always there . . .

"

My Savior Watches

(a villanelle)

Adrift on Life's tempestuous sea
I do not fear, for I recall
My Savior watches over me.

The night is black, no stars I see,
My soul's so lonely, lost, and small,
Adrift on Life's tempestuous sea.

Yet turn I can my God to Thee
To safely meet another squall;
My Savior watches over me.

When of this world I long t'be free,
Its pain and heartache, troubles all,
Adrift on Life's tempestuous sea.

Who sees the sparrow must see me,
So I will rise again, stand tall,
My Savior watches over me.

I put my faith alone in He
To guide me to th'next port of call;
Adrift on Life's tempestuous sea
My Savior watches over me.
