The maiden midnightA Poem by GraciousThis is the product of the fear I feel when I am alone at midnight.Maiden midnight As the eyes of midnight twinkled in the sky and her arms embraced the land a great billowing steam rose off of her skin and surrounded the traveling man sweet broken promises echoed throughout that the man had no choice but to hear though when screams of the past kissed his mind he surrendered and covered his ears but it wasn't the screams or the whispers nor the eerie fog that held him within he was bond of the midnight who gripped him and threw to his feet his friends and his kin she had snuck through the crack in the window the wicked black velveted crow, and she took from her bed the one he had wed for reasons a traveler never would know midnight then knocked on the door again soon after the grieving was done she swept into her arms the child of a poor man his pride and his joy, his son then she turned her back on his shelter she promised to leave him alone but the traveling man was not satisfied he knew he could never go home so he challenged the sad mistress midnight he swore on his family’s grave he tested the very destruction he felt o he swore on his family’s grave -Gracious © 2014 GraciousReviews
