It is hard to carry this ever present
guilt of imperfection, even in times I seem to be living righteous. Like
a scar from a never healed wound. Perhaps already since the Garden of
Eden. An underlying ache, sometimes softened, but never really absent.
Today, this state of unhappiness is painfully alive. I carried it with
me in my sleep, hidden between old memories, it woke up with me, in
remembrance of all the things I could have done better, and it is walking
besides me, through my day, preventing me to be bold as a lion. I wish I
was more of what God meant, when He created my Spirit. It hurts like
hell. Because that's what hell is: the clear awareness of our collective
guilt, as human race. I'll be alright.
Perfection is an unattainable State-of-Mind - because every other mind has their own view of what perfections is and means and similarities don't count ...just the differences.
It would be a memorable moment sitting across from you at an outdoor cafe` and sharing a sunset - anytime.

I wish more folks looked at imperfections as doorways to perfection and im not talking about the physical kind cause that in my eye often is a perfection. the realization of imperfection is an interesting road crossing for it is deemed of the self by the self then it is a message of need for change now if it is an imperfection of doctrine or societal oft times i find it is about the transcriptioners and not the content that deems these things as imperfection and in my humble opinion should be measured by the ones of whom point this out. A lot of meaning in your short prose Dear Shandra
Personally, Shandra,
I believe man created the allegory of Adam & Eve, and attributed it to God to lend credence and validity to a fable written to admonish us not to do what we inherently know is wrong. The innocently naïve, unfortunately take the story literally and are, therefore, made to feel guilty anytime they lead (quote) "imperfect lives".
As humans, imperfection is natural, while the Bible's kind of perfection is impossible and unrealistic, even radically unhealthy to the human psyche. History and the study of human nature has proven this to be true.
One should deem "that" which they believe to be perfect, and strive toward that as their goal. Still, a sensible person will do so realizing it is but a path to follow, and that it should be tempered with leniency, tolerance, and the wisdom of understanding along the way, allowing for the primal urges built into us all.
Each must decide for themselves what is right or wrong in their minds and hearts, and be able to accept and live it, what will do harm to themselves and to others, and what will not in their own discernments … not to try and follow a path that makes them miserable and feeling guilty about every infraction against perfection made.
We are not automatons, we are flesh and blood humans … each with our own feelings, emotions, desires, urges, and moments of creative inspiration and instinctively natural spontaneity, that to attempt to perfectly follow tomes and rotes of rules would be to kill the brightness of our spirits.
Sure, temper life with wisdom and moderation in all things, each according to its proportionally beneficial balance and capacity, but don't chain us to the inflexible idea of perfection.
Gosh, Shandra, just look at all I wrote!
Well, ya got me all excited and carried away … LOL!
We're all guilty of imperfection, M'Lady … it's an entirely unavoidable and natural state-of-being for humans, eh?
You always write and share such interesting things -- topics that touch deeply in some meaningful way.
Thank you for sharing this one, Shandra … I needed it! ⁓ Richard 🍃
[come, share my poem, "LIFE'S SONG"] : )

Love everything you said . That's exactly the life season I'm in at the moment. I recently left my religion after discovering the deception behind the hypocritical holiness. As you said it so well, religion was killing the brightness of my spirit. Since then I am making a serious research on our origin as humankind and I am fascinated. What Iam learning resonates so strongly with what I knew in my heart about us, human beings.
I spent my younger years under the curse of perfectionism. I can see this tendency in the way a spiritual path is pursued in this writing. It's common to think the goal is to become perfect like Jesus, but the trick is not to use this as a bludgeon to punish our inevitable shortcomings. Humans have a horrible past track record of atrocities, but I don't believe God wants us to wear this heavy guilt around our necks every minute of every day. When we focus on the junk, we might miss the simple splendors that surround us & which are our ever-present blessings! You've done a great job in conveying how some people approach their spiritual path as if it were some kind of proving ground or payment path. I see it differently, but you have expressed yourself powerfully (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

These words start one thinking. Whether the imperfection to which you refer is the sin that we're all born with or something else, I cannot tell, but it's true that none of us are without our faults. We must face that reality and carry on, being also mindful that others are the same.
