Sorry I Lied

Sorry I Lied

A Poem by Gracefool_Lyn

I'm so sorry

I'd like for you to know the truth

But you left me no choice

I couldn't tell you

I trust you

I know you'd want to help but no

Can't put you through all this

For me, a useless fool

I wish you knew

But I'm not up for destroying your beliefs

Both in me and maybe yourself

Don't want you to suffer

I had no choice

You don't deserve all the lies

But the truth hurts more

Didn't want you to cry

I don't understand

The only way to stop pain is to cause it

How can pain drive out pain

It isn't right

What can I do

I know the choice I made was wrong

But I did it anyway in hope

I did it for you

This piece cries out with the energy of bad choices, regrets and unsure actions. It's smooth flow and simple cadence brings across the image to me of one who acted without all the pieces known and know lives in a world of doubt, and these words are that doubt and ultimate question asked of the invisible other party.
The last stanza really is the shining one for me in this piece. It is an acknowledgment of a mistake made. At the same time, it acts as a contradiction in life. for if something known to have been wrong brings another pain, then another choice should be made to correct the action taken. Yet, that logic is only sound as long as the invisible other party has done no wrong themselves.

Over all it's a really good piece of poetry. :)
