Hidden TearsA Story by Gracefool_LynThis is the beginning of a story I was writing but abandoned. Not sure why I'm posting this, but feel free to read it and leave opinions. What is this "true happiness" so commonly spoken of? I mean, sure everyone has their ups and downs in life, but it seems some are more fortunate than others. And they don't even realize it. On one end of the scale, their's someone who loves him or herself and deep down truly believes in themself and the statement "life is good." This person is often bursting with happiness and never allows anything else to take over. Even in live's most painful times, he or she is able to be brave and keep a positive attitude. On the other end, however, we see a small figure huddled alone in a corner. Her back is towards the world now that no one can see through the brick wall surrounding her on all sides. No on can ever get in and nobody can ever come out except the lone girl. She is the only one witha key to open the door, but she chooses to keep it closed to everyon except herself. Throughout the day, and around other people, this girl leaves the protective walls she has become familiar with. She doesn't like them, but they are comforting in their familiarity with the lonesome teen. But without a special mask she has created for herself, the girl cannot leave the protective brick walls. This mask is the only thing that holds her together. Without it, she would be crushed by a title wave of emotions. There is but one way to push away the unwanted emotions: suppression. The girl is able to hide and ignore any emotions she wishes whenever wanted or needed. However, after she returns to the brick walls, locking herself insides, she simply tosses away that smiling, laughing mask to reveal her true form. If people could see her now, they would stare in confusion and horror, for they have never seen her real face. Some would pity her, some would cry with her, but most just wouldn't care. She would be thought of as a selfish, babyish fool. Then everyone truly would hate her as she commonly thought they did. © 2011 Gracefool_Lyn |
