OverwhelmedA Poem by Grace EisenhauerFrustrations on all the suffering I've witnessed...
Bandages don't heal unseen wounds
Even if we all know they're there Sometimes life isn't fair Life isn't fair Horrific events occur as we're attached to our screens Like we're stuck behind aquarium glass Forced to watch but can't intervene Unsolvable suffering overwhelms our world And problems we can solve? Still seem too massive to overcome And I'll list you some While hunger and starvation plague third world countries, Millions still suffer with it in "The Land of the Free". Even with amazing technological advances in medicine, There are still many ailments and diseases even the most prestigious doctor can't cure. Families all over suffer in maintaining stability, Which affects their children in the long run. Tragedies like mass shootings happen In some of the most trusted buildings we know, like schools. The world has many problems And suffering is a human condition I'm afflicted with this addiction To save the world But I'm no Atlas My shoulders would be crushed under the world's weight Yet I can't wait To at least help in improving the world We can't be saviors So we need to be helpers, teachers, listeners, counselors, prayers DOERS
