11pm.A Chapter by Grace
23:07, this is the time of night when most people say goodnight to their loved ones, and fall into their crisp covers, and sleep, happy and content.
For others this time of night is lonely and silent. It's the time where every worry, problem, thought, comes rushing at you at millions miles per hour. What about us? The scared. I wish there was a place for all these people to go to, where we could all relate, be open ears, open arms. It would be turning something dreaded, something lonely, into something beautiful, an escape. I wish we all had people to talk to at 11pm. I want to jump in a car and drive to the beach, a golden gateway to happiness. On the way there, all your favourite songs playing loudly, not having to worry about waking anyone, because it's 11pm and you're going to some place quiet and peaceful. When you get to the beach, you can run right to the waters edge, whip off your shoes and socks and feel the cold, salty water tickle your feet. Find a spot, and feel the sand run through your fingers, your shaken body is no longer shaken, you are at peace. Listen to the sound of waves wash up the beach and know it's just you and nature. You can look out into the big open space; send your eyes to the sky, the pretty burning flames in the sky staring right back at you. You can then begin to realise that you can say what you want here, you could be with any human in the world on this beach and it wouldn't matter, because you know the waves can catch your words and wash them away. It's only you, the sea, the stars, the sand and your body. Feel good that you have such a place to throw away your sorrows. Instead we sit on our bedroom floors, empty and our minds explore the very darkest thoughts in our heads. Make a change, find your 11pm happy place. © 2016 Grace |
