Hollow Words

Hollow Words

A Poem by Grace Wolff

There is so much misapprehension in this world
in us
that my head is spinning from that fragile grasp
of your words that meant to hurt me
but left me empty
because ego in everyone of us
is much more that the perception of the facts

The truth and lie
all lie beneath our chests
and my actions meant something else
than your understanding
but never mind, you didn't get me anyway

Objective and subjective
water and fire
Can we even for once see the things from higher?
Can we escape the conceiving,
can we break from deceiving
ourselves and objectively admit
that sometimes
there are no other sides, just different people with different guides

I really like your use of language in this poem,
"Can we even for once see the things from higher?
Can we escape the conceiving,
can we break from deceiving
ourselves",
the enjambment helps the poem flow and the multiple rhymes in one sentence gives it a rhythmn that is enjoyable to read

It is truly amazing how much misunderstanding there is in a relationship... or just between friends......that makes us uncomfortable....and much of it is very trivial...and many times there is no resolution... frustrating at least....you are correct when you speak of different sides...it's really about unique emotions, sometimes hidden...sometimes deceiving....your comments are very true and honest....Nice!
Warmly, B

what do you think? can we be free from judgements of others' way of behaving? Or is it always some kind of personal?
