Eyes Wide Closed

In an attempt to get some sleep I shut my eyes, as for everyone experiences I was wrapped in the blackness of my mind. Realizing I was dozing I embraced the drowsiness until I seen the figure appear in my conscious, it's gnarling teeth and predator features. Trying not to scream I opened my eyes feeling foolish for being scared of something that doesn't lurk around the dark while my eyes are opened. With each blink of an eye the creature gets closer being aware of that I get up to make a fresh brew of coffee and finding eye drops so I don't have to blink. Suddenly fear I never felt before came upon me. I had to think fast while keeping myself alert of my surroundings. Contemplating whether this is a figment of my imagination or if keeping my eyes open will solve my problem. If I would have kept my eyes closed then I would have to look my killer in the face.If I kept them open I still would have been alive. I dreaded the walk back to my bedroom but I'm twenty-three and I need to get up for work in the morning. I carefully got into bed a crazy game of 'if" and "but" went about in my head all while this creature is advancing towards my crumpled bed sheets, God why did it have to be so close to me in the first place. Closing my eyes, I prayed, prayed that I didn't have to face a miserable death tonight. I finally dozed off into a peaceful sleep given the circumstance that I did not see the demon. At the first sign of dawn I slowly open my eyes.At the last moments I realized that this was all to real in my head, everything is in my head. No one will no what truly happened to me, I will become that very creature. Terror was all I felt as the being clawed my throat then the excruciating pain coursing throughout.Just as fast as it began it came to an end.
