![]() If It Were My WishA Poem by Nicholas Duboe![]() A love poem on all the things I wish I could and the only thing I can. Enjoy!![]() If It Were My Wish
If it were my wish, I would make the sun shine forever. I'd keep the shadows of night from touching your face, to darken its beauty or provide a disgrace. Yes, if it were my wish, I would make the sun shine forever. But I can't. If it were my wish, I would build monuments in your name. I'd chisel by hand, the curves of your complexion, to somehow prove I'm worth of your affection. Yes, if it were my wish, I would build monuments in your name. But I can't. If it were my wish, I would give you my heart. I'd rip though my chest and crack open my ribcage, to give you my life so that you would never age. Yes, if it were my wish, I would give you my heart. But I can't. If it were my wish, I would stand by you each day. I'd be there every morning and every night while you slept, I'd be there when your happy or sit by you as you wept. Yes, if it were my wish, I would stand by you each day. And I will. © 2015 Nicholas DuboeAuthor's Note
