The Oakwood GiftA Poem by Gossamer VioletIt's about going on a walk in the summer woods and missing autumn so the trees shed some of their leaves on you so that you shed your sadnessI went for a walk where the oak woods whisper and the sunlight peeks through the trees. I stopped and I looked, for I sensed the summer, and I said to those whispering round me: “I come from the land where the maple trees sigh as they’re abandoned by their leaves, and I miss that land where autumn runs wild in an apple aroma breeze. I miss that autumn, so I’ve just come to ask if from this summer you’ll set me free.” I waited and watched as they gave no answer… until they shed their leaves on me. © 2013 Gossamer VioletAuthor's Note
