Our 'Saviours'

Our 'Saviours'

A Poem by xFlightlessBird

Torn asunder by those who claimed to revive us
Their promises tossed aside with the morning trash
Along with the hopes and dreams of those who fought for this
The potency of forced oblivion rich in the air so it burns the eyes
Forced blindness
Led by those who do not wish to see the whole light
But only a fraction of theirs
Justice and freedom are recited like a play
And aren't taken seriously
They use each other as pawns in their political schemes
Their bellies round and full with the sweat & blood of those who slave away day and night
They sleep peacefully at night
While the rest lie sleepless in their beds
Cold and bones aching
They , ostensibly, are our heroes
Our saviours
