Mistakes of past

Bitter sweet are memories gone by
A tear they bring to this glass eye
Why do only memories seem so
Why can't the present glow

Those roads were winding as they passed
They got me here where I am alas
And as I look back on their trail
I wonder where it is I did fail

Today I may be happy or so
A missing piece did I forgo
Dare I look back to wonder all over
That missing piece if still in reach could be closer.
