Salamanders

Salamanders

A Poem by Mike Goodwin
"

Oh man, I thought of this one line on accident. A monster is born.

"
Salamanders are really cool.
Especially the big frilly ones.
Salamanders aren't like people though.
They have four legs instead of two.

Salamanders are amphibians,
They can live inside water and outside of it.
Humans can't really do that.
But salamanders can.

Salamanders are really good at adapting to change,
Something we as humans aren't so great at.
What if someone took our living space as we knew it,
and changed it completely?

I don't think a human would be too happy about that.
But maybe its because we don't have the features that help us react well to change?
And salamanders do.
Even so, I'm not sure if that justifies us.

Salamanders don't take anything for granted,
And they accept change.
Most of the time they walk right into the water,
Bringing the change upon themselves.

I kinda wish I could be like a salamander in this respect.
But I probably wouldn't look as cool,
If everything around me was changed,
And I became amphibious.

When my two minutes are up,
And its time to take a breath,
I'd flail around in the water, like any human being.
But this wouldn't happen if I was a salamander.

I don't know but, humans can do a lot of complex things,
And salamanders can do a simple thing that humans can't do,
And they do it really well.
Frogs and stuff can do it too,

But salamanders are cooler, and I just saw a picture of one.
