While You Were Sleeping...

While You Were Sleeping...

A Poem by Josh Shepherd

While you were sleeping…
            Aliens attacked the Earth!
            There were flying saucers everywhere!
But when all seemed lost…
Hugh Dinosaurs came out of
Very signal volcano
And fought the aliens!
And when destruction was at it’s highest…
            Atlantis raised from the ocean!
And tidal waves five stories high
            Washed down the dinosaurs!
And just as things started to dry…
Elves, fairies, and pixies started to fly!
            All around they caused mischief
            And they reeked havoc!
But just as things started to calm…
All the Animals stood up on two feet
And they started to speak eloquently!
And while the alien invading,
dinosaur fighting,
Atlantis washing,
magical,
Animal talking, night happened…
            ….You were speaking….
Which is why things look alittle different today….

I loved this piece.
You had a comical sounding to the very beginning which drew in the reader expecting that voice to flow through the whole piece. It was refreshing and unexpected the ending that you gave it.
The way you came up with all those absurdities like dinosaurs and aliens and atlantic rising was enough fantasy to really open the readers mind to the overall message of the piece.
Only critic would be that there are a few spelling errors that just need to be quickly corrected but nothing significant.
Really wonderful
