From One World to Annother

From One World to Annother

A Poem by Austin
"

Me venting about what I used to think about things and how things are

"
Grow up big and fine they said,
You'll make a great man some day,
Continue to do good they plead,
and good things will come your way

Never did they counsel,
against the greeds of men.
Never did they tell a soul,
how hard their life had been,

until you complain about your own,
despair, frustrating and failure
only to be overthrown
by stories over-gestured,

Get good grades and go to school,
you're future will be bright.
a four point O is what is cool,
One day you'll see I am right

The four point O helped for sure,
but, that advice was at best half baked.
thousands more have accomplished grades just as pure,
with service, leadership, and experience in their wake.

The euphoria of a world built,
by those intending well.
is smitten by the blows dealt,
and cracking our unstable shells

of misconceptions of functions and truths,
learned only by experience,
we bear our teeth, and do what soothes,
our nerves for life's next experiments

Despite the pain, disappointment and misconception, we do our best as two worlds continue to collide,
the world of who I am and what I think, to the reality of the world outside.
