As In Of Rooftops ViewA Poem by John Patrick Robbins AKA GonzoThe birds flew chasing the last refuge of sunset to hide in nights soon destined approach. Smoke ring's and a warm beer. Companions I understand fully in the most detached sense. It wasn't I had lost the fire .
It just had turned into something much more deep and personal to me. A scar of my errors and a mark of my misspent hours choose the better for yourself my roads brought us together for this moment either way.
The city's lungs expelled her dying thoughts of a time we could no longer see. As I viewed the rooftops and chased tomorrow promise the darkness of a nights winds did caress the thoughts of the bliss we exchanged for the true passions we had forgotten so long ago.
The matchbook fell from the ledge to make a final rest into the alley below. How had it ever come to this? How had I lost all sense of myself to only bleed the ink upon the page? And thus losing every bit of myself from my life's blood to this ghost like existence.
I kept the picture a marker as a pirate view the lighthouse a skipped stone form a ports every needed decline and all to needed rest.
Sometimes amongst the rooftops I saw the isolation of giants in structure. And from the I had to envy those hollow b******s .
I gave a toast to the emptiness . I gave a toast to the sunset. And in a moment I shall only know upon this page I gave a toast to that picture and her memories arms warmth in those so distant from now moments view.
Even from here I have to admit it was forever a hell of a view. © 2013 John Patrick Robbins AKA Gonzo |
