Hopeless RomanticsA Story by Gonçalo C. I’ve always considered myself a hopeless romantic. But what actually are hopeless romantics? Well, they see the whole dating scene in an entirely different way, they believe the way most relationships develop today isn’t the right way, they think the rules established by modern society on how relationships should be are mostly wrong. They're old souls, they are usually against random hookups, and they want a real relationship based in love, trust and dedication towards your partner, they think that not everything leads to sex and to achieve the early power in a relationship, it’s not a battle, you don’t do something to get a reward later, you do it cause making your partner happy makes you happy and you’re a sentimental dreamer, you’re creative, you crave to achieve greatness, you’re dedicated to the art that is loving someone and you get a warm feeling in your chest when you’re around the right person. You dream of being loved and meaning the world to someone. You know, deep down, that love isn’t a one way street, but a journey you take together. Why are they called “hopeless” romantics then? It’s very hard to tell but by my experience, i’d say it’s cause sometimes they allow love feelings to override common sense and it can destroy you. You have very high expectations and you end up by sort of ignoring reality, leading to being very picky and having trouble opening up to people, and showing them who you really are and displaying your view on this subject. Despite all of this, they will stay strong when times get hard, and know in the back of their minds that everything will be worth it when they meet the right person.
