![]() The Richness of Island LifeA Poem by Gregoria Somol Ahmed![]() My love for my Island and my people: A poem celebrating the true wealth of the Northern Mariana Islands—family, love, and nature's abundant gifts.![]() In a world where survival is often defined, by wealth and fame we seem confined. The glowing screens project a tale, Of financial glory and a life for sale. But here, on this island, our truth runs deep, A richness that media fails to keep. For fame is fleeting, and wealth can stray, But love and nature forever stay. The mangoes hang like golden suns, A gift of the earth when the day’s work is done. The sea hums softly, its bounty so vast, A timeless treasure that holds steadfast. Visitors linger, their minds alight, Seeing the truth that feels so right. It’s not in numbers or fleeting acclaim, But in family, in kindness, in life’s quiet frame. The laughter of children, the stories we share, The wind through the palms, the salt in the air. These are the riches, the gifts we hold, A legacy of love, more precious than gold. So let the world chase what glimmers and shines, we’ll cherish the bounty of these islands divine. For here, in the Northern Mariana’s embrace, True wealth is found in its heartwarming grace. © 2025 Gregoria Somol AhmedAuthor's Note
