High Heels and Holiday GleeA Poem by Gregoria Somol Ahmed"That uncontrolled feeling of SOMETHING GOOD"In high heels, I stride with grace, An intellectual look on my face. But inside, I'm a child, can't you see? Bursting with Christmas glee! No smile to show my childish cheer, But my heart's doing flips, oh dear! Imagining myself hopping around, Clicking my heels without a sound. Professional and poised, I may appear, But inside, it's "Wheeee!" I hear. High heels clicking, a secret delight, In my mind, I'm taking flight. Why this Christmas, do I feel this way? Is it the faces children make as they count down the days? Their laughter, spending time with loved ones so dear, Taking a break from school, spreading holiday cheer. Just them being happy makes me feel giddy and free, Their joy and excitement, a gift to me. So here's to the holidays, full of fun, Where even adults can feel like they've won. With a hop and a skip, and a gleeful shout, Christmas joy is what it's all about! © 2024 Gregoria Somol AhmedAuthor's Note
