Shattered Bonds

Shattered Bonds

A Poem by Gregoria Somol Ahmed

In the quiet aftermath of loss and strife,

Where echoes of a fractured life

Resound in the empty, aching air,

We stand, each wounded, caught in despair.

The bonds once tight, now fray and break,

As we sever ties for our own sake.

One by one, we distance, we part,

From the source of pain that shattered the heart.

Her voice, a dagger in a silvered sheath,

Carves through silence, stirs beneath.

Manipulation, a web of deceit,

In every word, a cruel retreat.

She twists the past with venom’s grace,

In every story, a bitter trace.

Ridicule flows from her unkind lips,

In our broken hearts, the pain still grips.

Attention-seeking in every plea,

Her tactics harsh, a stormy sea.

Insensitive and brash, her demands

Are like iron chains on outstretched hands.

As we break away from her control,

Her anger rises, a furious toll.

Blame is cast, a shadowy veil,

In her dark words, we are frail.

Yet, amidst her storms of spite,

We find the strength to claim the light.

In severing ties, we seek to heal,

From the wounds of her harsh ordeal.

For in the silence, a fragile grace,

We rebuild in our own space.

From the shreds of what once was known,

We find the seeds of a new life sown.
