Newt

Newt

A Poem by Gomer LePoet
"

A man, a lizard?

"

Newt

slymy salamander

with long sticky tongue

walks on clouds of balderdash

his head up his bung

highly toxic skin

if you fall for his tripe

he spews words of made-up grandeur

belying his yellow stripe

spouting words of morality

couldn't even follow his own rhetoric

questionable tactics forced ouster

not so clever not so slick

has he accepted the public doubt

thankfully he will not be our leader

proven beyond any question

a liar and a cheater

Seems you have a fun side as I read that in your words. This is a unique poem and the ending, well it speaks for itself. Good stuff. Write on.

Here you move from one creature to another, and so perfectly slick like! Read it twice to catch all your subtle twists and turns... Richly colorful wisdom, my friend!

Very well written. No truer words have ever been spoken. I think this should be a syndrome. I can place many people in this category.

Pretty neat idea. He is a very smart man and articulate, but you just can't do what he did in his personal life and go around moralizing...

You are being polite. Most of our leaders make a salamander look like a honest citizen. I like the complete story in the poem. The ending was my favorite part. A excellent poem.
