Money for Nothing

Money for Nothing

A Poem by Gomer LePoet
"

so many millionaires with so little skill

"

Money for Nothing

made up stories made up lines

whacko Hawaiian guitars playing out back

how the hell you gonna pay those fines

need more than just showing your butt crack

a politician a model a vj on MTV

get your face out front so they know

an actor a singer not just a worker bee

they put the money where your mouth shows

no real skill is needed except for a line of bull

keep the wool pulled way down low

stand on your tip toes like Jethro Tull

and watch the hypnotized audience glow

a pretty face and balls of galvanized steel

you never let them call your bluff

you make them think they're getting a deal

collect your money and disappear in a puff

Ah! Yes. I love this. Somebody finally needed to say this. I like the way it flows. Reminds me of the song by Eddie Money. That just played in my head while I read this poem.

you're right; there's nothing tangible about money here - no real service or product exchange - money goes where the attention is drawn....the more attention you draw; in any form...the more money is drawn...because money is power; but attention is what is the real power...and no one wants to be free; or give away for free....but then again; we live in a paradoxical world...
