a trip to summer camp

 

Hello from Camp

mom and dad, please come and get me

I hate this place so very much

it's day 1 and I can't stand it here

the kids are mean and ewww they touch

the counselors are no fun either

they make me do things I don't like

like eat my veggies and make my bed

and take long hikes, I want my bike

day 2 came and not much better

the kids are still pretty creepy I think

did get to visit some baby animals

but those silly goats, really do stink

day 3 things are getting more fun

some of the kids are now my friend

the councellors are better too

went canoeing around the bend

day 4 has come, and I'm having fun

thanks mom, for the box of treats

I might want to stay, a little longer

my friends now share their choclate sweets

day 5 it's cool here dad and mom

I am having so much fun

the swelling has now left my p-nus

now, I can jump and run

I'm glad I decided to come to camp

can't wait until I can return

maybe next year you won't be worried

and tell me about all your concern

I've never written my parents while I was at camp..

I enjoyed how the enthusiasm of the letter grew as the character began to open up and enjoy himself rather than dwell on his complaints.. I also liked the childlike honesty in the wording. Another great write:)

Having grown up in a place where nature was next door to be visited almost every day, I was never sent to camp. Maybe it would have been good, maybe I would be a bit more of a social creature. I wonder how going to camp changes a person...
