There's a Road...Somewhere

There's a Road...Somewhere

A Poem by gombeggar

Been across this great big land

The country of my father's clan

Drove the highways to and fro

Until I had no place to go

Never did I see nothing

Like how the roads of Pennsyltucky's been

Ya know just when ya left that there state

Cuz then the highways ain't all patched, they run true and straight

I miss them roads so old and fine

Even if they wear my tires down to the line

That's the old Pennsyltucky roads

Full of creaks and cracks and holes

That's them old Pennsyltucky roads

All beat up right down to the mines of coal

Some say there are roads elsewheres

That ride ocean shores out there

But come around the Appalachian way

Where yer car's alignment won't last the day

yes...a motto with so many reasons behind it too
gombeggar, this is fine! Whoda thunk potholes would ever be wistfully remembered? I like the rhythm, even when it changes abruptly- it's like hitting a Pennsyltucky pothole!

thanks much
I CAN hear this .. could so easily be lyrics .. metre not quite - but interesting, musical, changes of key!

Tells a story of past times and places, a lesson taught of a world of underground pits and those in dusty tracks. Atmospheric. But smiled at that last line, says so much.
