Ruddy Day No. 1A Poem by gombeggarRuddyDay
Conversely along, with a fever wrenching strong She walked and she mingled; she looked around All she saw was the crowd, not a one was endowed With what she’d been looking for
* singing * Ruddy old day, ruddy old day Where ever I go it’s just a ruddy old day Ruddy old day, ruddy old day Always finish off with a ruddy old day Ruddy old day, ruddy old day Gotta give thanks for this ruddy old day
Storm clouds a looming, she had popcorn to share Everyone was just moving, some with such a blank stare So she sat down; the stone bench was all cold What was she waiting around there for? She pulled out the pages, of a notepad she had And wrote and wrote then scribbled like mad Suddenly, she felt that there was just no more time Time for what? What was she waiting for? Everyone bustled in the big gray common square Lighted up shops fought the dim, old air There was movement to be had, places to go Did anyone else have anything to wait for? Was rain coming now or would there be snow? The clock of the commons did not care, did not know It tapped away the time of the days, but did not yet gong She thought there was something it was waiting for If not for the crowd, the wind would have been stronger Yet the pages she had had flipped back and forth on her Her blood was all warm; her heart beat fast And still she shuddered cold, and wondered what for? Like the parting of a sea, or like it was just meant to be From out of the crowd of the commons came he Straight up and solid, he was her favorite man All this time, it was Daddy she was waiting for © 2011 gombeggar |
