Runty Ones

Runty Ones

A Poem by gombeggar

Little bits squealing away

Little niblits squealing all day

Where’s their mum? Out prancing again?

Shouldn't she be home in her lioness den?

Leaving me to sort all things out

Whilst she runs around touting her clout

Never mess with a lioness queen

Still here I am when I should be out parading

Damn me for being parental in staying

The kids need their mum

They at least need someone

How’d I get this gig?

Why am I stuck in deep?

Good question. Same question each thyme

She said she would be right back

Here again she always says that

Just to the store for a few odds and ends

Or did she say she was shopping for clothes again?

No more toasters, I really hope not

Maybe she went to get bread? Or maybe not

C’mon…Where is she?

The little ones, they are running about

Pulling and pushing, grabbing my ears now

Mother’s milk is what they all need

Wish they’d all stop clawing at me

What’s a lion king to do?

I should be out in the savanna, need to leave soon

Don’t be pulling that! It’s not my tail!

Where did she go?

Where could she be?

She’s left me alone again here

Come back soon, mah dear!

Everyone be quiet now!

How on earth does she manage them all? Wow!

This must be how my husband feels when I leave. Very humorous spin to what I'm sure was a chaotic day you wrote about.

This was great, it made me feel like my life kind of. except I am the mother and I don't get to just leave and have someone there with the children. I don't leave them anyways, I feel like I had them and I should be taken care of them:)

I loved how the whole poem rhymed all the way through and you can relate to the words in this poem:) You have such an amazing way to tell your stories:) Great job on another piece.
