Where Were You?A Poem by gombeggarHmm… And by the sandy sea Monkey jokes all day long
Here we are And the rain is halfway clean The memories are as old as they can be Take the time to pour down in sheen, in theme What plans we are making What monies we are taking
We showed up Where were you, kids? Excuse it if they’re all of me
And where are you? What can you do That’s more important More forward Then this?
Where were you? If we bar hopped We’d find everyone
We sang old songs That didn’t seem so old anymore And we sang them Along with the required ‘air guitar’
Where were you? Was the rain too much? It kept you away The showers torn down on us The roads were just a mess Needless to say we decided That this night was the best
I whispered in their ears Cuz the band made too much noise Donate to the monkeys After our poise One by one we stepped out Not exactly in that order Next time you’d better be there All our high school soldiers Of the patch quilt coal cracker confounded muddle spread out from Alaska to far yonder and such and so And everything in between We made it, got together Next time you’d best all be there… © 2012 gombeggarReviews
