Twilight Breezes

Twilight Breezes

A Poem by Amanda Bokovoy
"

One of my oldest poems, done for an English class assignment. Originally written September 2004.

"

Though the day is long past
The sunlight tarries still
Dull orange and copper tones
Fade into the night

Dark waves bathe the shoreline
As ivory foam swirls gently
Watched by a cobalt moon
And diamond stars

Palm leaves sway quietly
Caressed by twilight breezes
Carrying the fragrance
Of tropical blossoms

Slow strides carry me
Across endless sand
Mirages fill my mind
Dreams that will not die

Did you catch the twist/switch in the last stanza? Most people miss it, so I'm curious...

Oh wow...after a moment I think I actually caught it. Transition from one thinking of a beach...when it really seems to be a desert. Clever! And very well written, might I add. I love it.
