Where It All Began

Where It All Began

A Poem by Amanda Bokovoy
"

A prose poem about lost love. Not written from experience, but has some similarities to something my mother went through.

"

It's cold today, as I sit here
on the big rock in our spot in the park,
just like when you first brought me here.
People still don't come here much.
But, that's why you liked it, of course.

Do you remember that day?
It seems so long ago, yet it wasn't.
This place looks exactly the same.
So quiet and peaceful...
A great place to be alone, right?

You held my hand the entire time
and showed me all around this glade.
You told me about the plants and animals.
But you didn't tell me the most important thing...
You didn't tell me that you would leave.

I often wonder what it would be like
if you were still here to walk with me.
But what's the point? You're gone.
And you didn't tell me you would go.
You knew, but you hid it from me. Why?

Of course, it's foolish to ask questions
when you already know the answer.
You knew I wouldn't be able to handle it.
I guess I wasn't strong enough. Am I now?
The wind in the trees doesn't answer.

I don't know why I'm even here, you know.
I'm just asking the wind stupid questions.
This place holds too many memories anyway.
It's time to end these meaningless visits.
Time to end it all... where it all began.

OMG It is so similar to something I went through too. I love the story line, I thought it was brilliant and well worded out too.
