Carnival Parisian Style!

Carnival Parisian Style!

A Poem by Goldilocqs
"

This year I attended the "Tropical Carnival" in Paris, it was my first time. I was one of the dancers, so this piece is just a collection of my thoughts and first impressions. Hope to see some of you there next year!

"

Tropical Carnival

Carnival, Parisian style,

Covering a 4 hour march & it certainly took a while,

Leg aching, foot bunning, the sun still blazing when the fête 'n' ting done,

but it don't beat the likes of Trini or the masquerades of London town.

Onlookers doing naught else except looking.

Yuh haffe wine-up yuh batty up inna someone crotch,

before you even see a trace of a faint smile appear.

Cameras clicking, digicams filming,

Dancers ah wining 'n' ah jouking,

Parisian carnival is still a ting to watch,

but next year this ting gaan fi get turn up a notch!

Innovitive costumes, bright and colourful,

but some of the dancers seem ill at ease,

while the crowd, others are eager to please.

Not wanting this opportunity to go to waste,

the Police and Gendarmerie, I tease...

with my tiny curves, flexible limbs & likkle-likkle waist,

I fling up my foot & quicken the pace...

Still in its infancy, developing this mass will take some time,

but in the end, it  will all be worth while,

Tropical Carnival -Parisian style.

I really liked the flow and feel of this piece, very happy, upbeat with excitement and a hint of mischievousness thrown in for delight - all of it bringing a smile to my face.

Well done!!
