Nature Walks
A Poem by
Llysofar
The red river valley
is overgrown with moss.
the sand is beached,
without a sea to nurture,
watch,
or venerate.
Old companions -
years apart.
How the ocean worshipped us
when we were near in nature.
And then the ices came,
Sea creatures
were lost inside
the time between
that we adored.
A rush of waves and sudden deserts.
Sands of time
relieving us,
for aeons long
with emptiness
Yet overhead,
the Joybringer,
still in my heart,
that's pounding, crashing.
Oceans
waving down,
in solace,
waiting
for the dreams to come.

I feel the sadness in the passage of time in this piece as if nature herself is mourning for what has gone before and what has become of the past. Then, near the end, we find hope renrwed in nature like the hope that each spring brings with the thaw of winter, "waiting for the dreams to come." An excellent write.

I love the ocean. I dream of it all the time. I am going to Alaska this summer to visit it once again.
YOur words are full of passion and the imagery is just amazing.

Ooh, I love this!
The majesty of nature is linked to a type of mystery that is also seen with nature.
Very Nice!

I really like that line, then again, I'm a fan of anything to do with waters. =)
Thanks for the FR too, btw. Nice to meet you!

I love nature poems and this is a fine example.
I loved the first stanza:
The red river valley
is overgrown with moss.
the sand is beached,
without a sea to nurture,
watch,
or venerate.
Especially the third line...for me it is a wonderfully original concept with a sense of impossibility.

Good to read about nature and how we have abused her.I like these lines...A rush of waves and sudden deserts.
Sands of time
relieving us,
for aeons long
with emptiness .. so poetic and so true.
