Ode to Musicians

Ode to Musicians

A Poem by Goldie

Dear musician,

As you pour out your heart and soul into that microphone, you're capturing a sort of magic. An essence really.

The taste of every tear, smile, kiss, scream, and fear your creative soul ever experienced. The result is an enigma---endless combinations of fluid emotion and somehow, each are equally mind-blowing and original.

This phenomenon illuminates the path for something lost within us. It gnaws open the shell in which we often protect

our vulnerability and, in a wild and uncontainable explosion, creates a sort of wordless communication. The congregation of souls under the drunkening influence of music really sings a song by itself---the sound of a thousand hearts speaking in perfect synchronicity.

Your priceless contribution to the human race will not easily be forgotten, for it will exist as a bookmark into your

life and the lives of those who took pleasure in your talent. Thank you for your tireless dedication and ability to reach into the depths of a downtrodden soul and kiss its wounds.

With much love and respect,

                      A teenager

I enjoyed this! Adolescents these days love music so much more than all art put together, why do you think that is?

I'm speechless really. I've been playing a long time and I agree with everything you said. I think of it as something I would say to all the musicians that inspired me since I was young. A great tribute.
