Enough!

Enough!

A Poem by Patricia

Enough!

When do we say that we have had enough?
When do we hear that enough is enough?
What is our creed as people?
What is our creed as a nation?

Our American Common Law is presented within
Our Constitution and Bill of Rights.
Our Individual Common Law is presented within
We the People of the United State of America.

By nature, all men, women and children are free and equal.
We have the right to Life, Liberty, and Property.
We have the right to enjoy and defend these rights,
Along with pursuing and obtaining safety and happiness.

We have had enough!
We are here to shout that enough is enough!
Opposition is our creed as people.
Sedition is our creed as a nation.

We sit comfortably in front of our televisions and radios
Bombarded with aspects of terror, be it murder, abuse, or adultery.
Where is our self proclaimed integrity as people?
Have we forgotten the Golden Rule?

There is no real beauty in the finest looking person, place, or thing,
If they create selfishness and unhappiness.
Where there is injustice, fight.
But, fight to change things, not to punish.

An interesting poem self proclaimation maybe but you are definitely singing the right song here and echoing my sentiments to a tee.
I think we have all grown weary of selfish materialism and the athaeists are having a field day which is why war is so common these days,to save a soul is indeed like listening to the first throws of spring when a little sparrow begins to chirp to a nearby blackbird.
I believe it is in man's nature to destroy himself but we can hope but try?
the governments make legal killing ok in the gulf just go and blow those baddies away in Iraq and Afghanistan i hear congress shout, never mind how many fellows we lose so long as those spooks get what is coming to them i hear them say with words of derision.
Your stance here is very noble but perhaps we are expecting the same as if we live in an ideal world.

Great Write! I could not agree more. It is time for the people to stand up and take our country back from the crooked politicians, who have become the lobbyist's personal lackeys. Check out my Writing "America the Mute," which has to do with bring about positive change in America. Also check out "The Golden Age."
Thanks for sharing and keep up the good fight!

Well said! I am a bit of a human rights activist and part of making people aware of social problems is lisening to those who are being denied their rights. There is a common ground and a common good and it starts with what you refered to as "the golden rule". No one deserves to be treated as less than human. Thanks for sharing!!
