PrisonersA Poem by ToriBased off of the journal my grandfather kept while he was a POW in WWII.It was almost too much to bare. The silence completely overwhelmed the crying from the others There were no other options left. Well, there was one other option, but imagining my family, the dreaded letter, the continuously flowing tears. That was too much The thoughts in my mind, spinning. My heart was racing, beating through my dirt covered uniform I watched as they stood, straight and tall. Their arms raised high in the air, waving the brightest white flags my eyes had ever seen. Orders where given. Lay down your weapons. Everyone stood. Scared at what was to come for us. No longer free Prisoners
