Two Countries

Two Countries

A Poem by Ashley Brodber

I feel like I’m standing on the my border staring out

I see him but an ocean separates us

Watching him walk from side to side

Is kind of dizzying but somehow dazzling

Sitting on the beach of my border

Awaiting his well thought decision

But he can’t seem to decide

He stops his aimless wandering and looks at me

I tilt my head and smile

He then continues again

Tempted, I’m so tempted to leave my border

And my thoughts of him on that beach

I’m tempted to go about my life as I would,

Had he not existed

Because it’s no use sitting here waiting for it

The words to say that he will take up his responsibility

That he will come back to me and live like we should

It then dawns on me, all the pain he’s caused

All the sleepless nights and disappointment,

All the tears and heartbreak

I realize that it is also my decision to make

Stay and wait or leave and go on with life

The next morning, much to his surprise

I’m the one walking aimlessly

And soon I’m gone

glad u enjoyed it bt it's more of like being in two different places and waiting for the person to make up their mind and come to u...or u make the decision

I love this. It's frustrating when you can't get the one you loved to hear you calls. Good job.
