A Poem by Jeremia
"

Also wrote this my senior year of high school.

"
Walls that were built for protection
No longer hold sanctuary
As I am surrounded by dark thoughts

No way to tear down these
Once happy and safe walls
That were built for protection

Caught as the anger wells up
Causing desolation within my walls
As I am surrounded by dark thoughts

Caught in the devastating destruction
As all that I love comes tumbling down
In walls that were built for protection

An eerie silence befalls me,
The darkness closes in
As I am surrounded by dark thoughts

The final quiescent place of me
Buried beneath the crumbling ruins of
The walls that were built for protection
As I am surrounded by dark thoughts

I liked it. It is a deep poem that is very emotional. We all can feel like that once in a while or most of the time. You do have skill in writing, but practice makes perfect (any poetry is poetry!). I like the repetition of the line 'As I am surrounded by dark thoughts'. In my opinion, the phrase gives more meaning to the poem as it goes into more depth. It really is an awesome poem.
