Who is this stranger staring back at me

This person with whom I once knew

This person not long forgotten

But whom is still lost?

 

Who is this person I am trying so hard to prove myself to

Who is this person who is worthy of my best

Who is this person frozen in the glass

Who is this stranger staring back at me?

 

Why do I not recognize this face

Why does it feel as if I should know this person

Why does it resemble a mirage

As if it is trying to tell me something?

 

Why does it hurt to look into those eyes

Why can I not bear to match the gaze

Why do I have to turn away

Why can I not remember what this once was?

I believe that in the first stanza, last line its supposed to be who, but don't trust that because I'm not 100% sure haha. My argument is that who is always the subject of a verb and I think who is the subject of is, or who is, (to be).

Aside from that which I am unsure of, I loved this whole poem. I can see the effort you put into it and it turned out really well! X3

I think it is a matter of grammar. I think "whom" is grammatically how it is suppose to be, but I cant remember either. lol It's referring to the person.
