A Dance of Death

A Dance of Death

A Poem by Elizabeth

"If you want to die today,
the come, join! in our dance of death!
A ballroom of black, where merriment may
prevail, but only of the darkest kind, inside this depth!

Descend with us, beyond the steeple,
away from the pitiful, churchgoing people,
away from their zealotry, and into our madness!
Their teachings are trite and filled with such blandness,
but ours, you see, the masochist's art,
an entropic thing, where screams play a part!
The moaning and cauterwails of souls passed by,
betrayed by the scales, at the time they were tried...
But please, don't be afraid of the horrible shrieks,
we might be unusual, but everyone's part freak!

You and I, we're one in the same,
so come, come in and partake in this "Game"!
I'd like to think of it as more of a party,
so come, come in and enjoy the green fairy!
I'm sure if you're careful, she'll treat you quite right,
but don't chew anymore than your'e willing to bite?

Perhaps, though, green's not your colour of choice,
instead, a dark red, fill a chalice, rejoice!
Whatever you do, just don't feel left out,
you've still yet to see, the ceremonial bout!
An event of much pride, where you'll hold all eyes...

Don't worry, Lady Tressed, truly, don't fear,
your friend Esruoc Tsrif, was already here.
He's retired for sleep, but 't was treated most dear.
So you needn't fret, milady, we're nothing too queer!"

All this I tell you, while wearing coy smiles.

"Come, sit down, enjoy the feasting, relieve yourself from weary trials!"

"I can't, I'm sorry, I really must go..."

The poor girl stammered as his face seemed to show,
the pallor of death and cold lifeless eyes,
as soon as the fellow dropped his dark guise.
Screams soon followed, as enticing as they were,
Nobody cared, as they descended upon her.
