The 2-Faced Beast

The 2-Faced Beast

A Poem by Elizabeth
"

Amore una stronza....

"

Love, the two faced Beast:
One a beautious face of peace,
the Other, a murderess for a feast.
One for pain, One for gain.
I give, but won't get,
despite the worry, despite the fret.
I for love, she for lust,
leaving scant but a bloody bust.
Eyes and lips, glazed to stone,
face of ivory, for water to hone,
as the salted waves run down a streak.
Cold eyes, gazing bleak,
an empty stare, a stolen smile,
purloined from past, so worthwhile.
It started out so sweetly,
how could it end so discreetly?
The cost of love indeed is steep,
prevelant within the wicked weep,
that creeps upon the soul each day,
and takes each life with the evening pray.
The seconds pass, an evening dread,
laments and remorse, often tread
upon my soul, so marked with sorrow,
silently seeking relief from the morrow.
