Lamentations

Lamentations

A Poem by Elizabeth

In the midst of darkened days,
insanities come, and plead their ways
The brutal mem'ries haunt my past,
Madness come, take me fast

But these questions, I propose,
is it heart break, d'you suppose?
Or am I searching for my mate?
fickle love, to be my fate?

Tori, many a joy come to mind,
Brittany, beauty and kindness shall I find
The former, shall happiness find we?
The latter, shall she for e'er shun me?

To consider my thoughts, give it time,
observe the nights, see what I find
One to whisper words so kind,
Happiness in mem'ries bind

Requiem for a deadened heart,
truthful answers often sought
Lies uttered, torn apart,
drawn to oblivion, forbidden art

Great use of rhyme & meter in this poem! o= It was so fast-paced and fun to read. (: I really loved the lines "But these questions, I propose, / is it heart break, d'you suppose?" This is written almost like dialogue & works well without sounding awkward anywhere. Great job!!!
