A. K. A. F. A. D. Series V: Rusted Existence

A. K. A. F. A. D. Series V: Rusted Existence

A Chapter by Glen Yumang Manese

Only lie in life,
is the the one you keep telling yourself...

All I ever did was win,
that I forgot how to lose...

I crossed the pond, back, forth & back, again...

I sworn or affirmed on the holy book...

To protect & defend the constitution of America...

Now, I hang on the rusted existence...
a useless tool of the U. S. government...

Forgotten & unseen by the public eye,
a wasted artifact of time...

Can you hear me, Commander-in Chief?

Shall I sing you a song:

O say, can you see,
By the dawn's early light...
What so proudly we hail'd at twilight's last gleaming;

Why am I spinning,
Why am I hearing noises that are not there,
Why do I walk on two left feet,

My foundation is knee deep in the mud,
I can no longer stand on my burning feet,
To the promise land of freedom,
Or the presume freedom I choose to give my all,
to die for those Americans,
so they may live the glory of God,
Or whatever beliefs they choose to be,

Can you hear me, America?

Shall I never forget your cries on the battlefields of freedom...

Except,
I can no longer live the lie,
you will get better,
only time will tell you,
only time is no longer on my side,
never was in the calculation,
the destination is 6 feet deep,

I weep in silence,
since a U. S. Marine never shows weakness,
a stoic existence embedded in my jar,
as they so call us;

Can you hear me, Commander-in-Chief?

Shall I sing you, another song:

From the Halls of Montezuma,
To the shores of Tripoli,
We fight our country's battles,
In the air, on land, and sea;

Why am I spinning,
Why am I hearing noises that are not there,
Why do I walk on two left feet,

My foundation is knee deep in the mud,
I can no longer stand on my burning feet,
To the promise land of freedom,
Or the presume freedom I choose to give my all,
to die for those Americans,
so they may live the glory of God,
Or whatever beliefs they choose to be,

I see things differently, now...
I remember the Wizard of Oz,
the make believe story of a fairy-tale,

Except,
I still have a brain,
I still have a heart,
I still have the courage;

To stand up to protect & defend our great land,
Not hide behind the facades of illusions,
I can accept my rusted existence,
I can even move forward to the reality,
I can only know that my duty to God, Family, Country & Corps was not left in vain,

Only lie in life, is the the one you keep telling yourself...

I no longer have to live with the lie, the truth has set me free...
