GlowA Chapter by Glen Yumang ManeseA. K. A. Filipino American Dream Series I: Unscripted © 2013 Written by Glen Yumang Manese A. k. a. (F. A. D.) Filipino American Dream
Glow © 2013 I give to you, this day. I give to you, this night. To touch is not one, but all of you. To know is me, but all of you. I have enhanced through you. Take a look around you. He's a doctor and she's a lawyer. But let's not forgets the Mayor. I am your audience. You are the performance. I am here to make you understand. Stand up and take a bow: A writer, a poet, an actor, a politician, a model, a musician, a painter and is an artist. But really you've become me. A writer writes all your mishaps. A poet rhymes these words. An actor gives a performance. A politician represents this audience. A model runs this runway. A musician, stop, sing to you. A painter draws this stage. An artist gives you a picture. But really you've become me. I thank you, All for being me. I am nothing, Without belief in you. You give me: Rhyme or reason. You gave me my audience. I will give you a lasting performance. Come one, come all. Here’s another episode. Are you ready to decipher a new code? No longer is in stealth mode. Enter the twilight zone. No time to be alone. Open the door. Let the light hit your center core. Begin a self-journey. Forget for moment about the money. The dollar called Washington. The 5th named Lincoln. 10 percent makes Hamilton. 2 bills equal a Jackson. A general translates a Grant. 100 explain Franklin. Bling-bling or bang is for the buck. Emotions letting go, let them out and flow. Can you see the light? No more need of plight. Our voice becomes one. Glow speaks to all, reverse the story. Go back to the days of glory. Taking-out is the lyrics. Taking-in what speaks. Open a book begins reading, understanding and creating. One in all is a truth to all. I thank you, All for being me. I am nothing, Without belief in you. You give me: Rhyme or reason. You gave me my audience. I will give you a lasting performance. Forget for a moment the record label, cover, pictures and interviews. No issues just listen to the words. Keep your eyes focus, no hocus pocus. Go back and forth when a song had meaning. Forward the words seem so demeaning. When the “F” word, middle finger had value not a curse. A fist was respect from man to man. A shake of hands, but speech is not given. Just goes to be the real deal. Seal a part of The Tonight Show. Give back the glow. Let words reclaim the flame. Real fame, there’s no blaming game. Heed a moment of time. Need to know actual reason. Not the toxic substance in retribution. Freedom of speech cries my letters and word. Chord my truth in this verse to dictate value. True notes glow, flow and follow. I thank you, All for being me. I am nothing, Without belief in you. You give me: Rhyme or reason. You gave me my audience. I will give you a lasting performance.
